Chicago comes alive each summer!
This June, we will once again feel the power of literacy.
Join us for our annual gala, Literacy in Bloom, a stunning evening celebrating the progress
we see every year through the power of reading, learning, and connecting.
Located among the bright and cheerful sunflowers, roses, alstroemeria, lilies, and hydrangeas,
we will truly recognize the students, tutors, and benefactors who help us cultivate adult education in our city every day.
When:
Date: Thursday, June 18th, 2026
Address: Three Cities Social Club (320 W Ohio Street #7E), Chicago, IL, US
Time: 6-9 pm
Our Evening Features
- Meet our keynote speaker, Scott Turow, bestselling author and acclaimed attorney whose fourteen novels—including Presumed Innocent and Presumed Guilty—have captivated readers worldwide. His next novel, Presumed Dead, is set for release in January 2027. He is also the author of two nonfiction works, including One L, about his experience as a law student.
- Cocktail Reception and Live Music: Join us for drinks and gourmet hors d’oeuvres while chatting with advocates for literacy programs, board members, and community leaders. Chicago-based singer Tiffany Hendricks will entertain & enchant us with her warm, expressive, and velvety voice.
- Awards: Hear from Literacy Chicago’s Student Achievement and Volunteer Service award winners—one of just ten students and ten volunteers honored each year by the Secretary of State—as they share stories that will move and inspire you.
Meet this year’s recipient of The Shirley Evans-Wofford Voice of Change Award
